Post Graduate Clinical Training:
Upon obtaining her medical degree in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Dr Susan Tan served as a house officer in University Hospital and then in the Ministry of Health in Terengganu General Hospital. She accompanied her husband, who was doing his specialty training in London and worked in the United Kingdom as a Senior House Officer in the National Health Service (NHS). She obtained her Diploma in Child Health London. Upon returning to Malaysia she pursued her postgraduate education in Psychiatry in UKM and was appointed a Fellow of the International University of Melbourne-Harvard Medical School Leadership Program in International Mental Health (iMHLP) in 2001-2002. During her subspecialty training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in UKM, she was also appointed a Fellow in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry whilst on attachment at the Department of Psychological Medicine, The Children’s Hospital at West Mead Sydney, Australia 2003. She was also awarded the Donald J. Cohen Fellowship for International Scholars awarded by the International Association of Child and Adolescent Allied Professions (IACAPAP) 2006.
